The World Series of Poker (WSOP) and Global Cash Access (GCA) have teamed up to offer a wider selection of cash access and funding options for this year’s 2007 WSOP Tournament, which will take place at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino from 1 June all the way to 17 July 2007.
“This is an exciting opportunity for us and Harrah’s,” said Steve Lazarus, senior VP of sales for GCA. “Not only does it allow us to improve service and reinforce consumer loyalty in the WSOP, it also provides new potential in an energetic and growing poker market.”
The WSOP, which is owned and operated by a subsidiary of Harrah’s Entertainment, attracted 8,773 participants for the $10,000 buy-in Main Event in 2006. In total, the 2006 WSOP saw more than 48,000 entries compete for a gross prize pool in excess of $171 million.
“Every year thousands of repeat customers enjoy the World Series of Poker,” said Howard Greenbaum, regional VP of specialty gaming for Harrah’s. “We believe the new GCA services are among many key improvements that will make our 2007 tournament even more fun, convenient and rewarding.'
