Artificial Life Inc., a company based in Hong Kong, is planning a series of casino games for third generation (3G) mobile phone technology. The first game to be launched is Texas Hold’em Poker, which offers a ‘single player’ version of the game as well as table tournaments. Avatars are used to represent each player and these will emulate PKR.com by doing chip tricks and expressing themselves with a range of gestures.
Phil Hellmuth, the brand, is backing yet another application. His mobile poker game is already doing well, but on Oasys Mobile, it has been updated in association with his sponsor Ultimate Bet. Again, the graphics include avatars, and it offers other features such as friend chat and railbirds.
'I'm amazed at how crisp and clear the new poker game looks on a cell phone,' said Hellmuth. 'Not to mention the ease of play and the new options ... it's cutting edge.'
What Aces Royal lacks in tricks, it claims to make up for in speed. The company say they have a ‘real time’ application irrespective of the geographical distances between players, making Aces Royal the fastest mobile gaming platform available.
Many 3G applications have underwhelmed analysts who have consistently predicted that the market is huge, (just over $20bn in the next two years for mobile gaming alone), the extra gear in operating speeds could see 3G markets move from ‘could do better’ to achieving their potential, and competitors will be running in real time behind Aces Royal.
