Millionaire Maker Makes History

Millionaire Maker Makes History

Monday, 2 June 2014

The WSOP's second annual Millionaire Maker became the second largest live tournament in history and the largest outside of the Main Event over the weekend after an impressive 7,977 players took to the felt.

The $1,500 tournament, which guarantees at least $1 million for the winner, was another storming success and proved once again that any fears about poker being on the decline are simply untrue.

Indeed, in amongst the thousands of amateurs hopefuls a bevy of world class stars were vying for a place in Day 2, including Jake Cody, Andrew Teng and Rhys Jones.

As the second session got underway last night it was Teng and Jones from the aforementioned trio that were able to thrive and move into the top 20 as the field shrunk from 1,500 to below 300.

Thanks to the massive influx of players for the Millionaire Maker the prizepool surged to $10,768,950 which means this year's eventual winner will walk away with $1,319,587.

181 players are still in the hunt for the bracelet including Teng, Allen Kessler, Greg Mueller and Matt Salsberg.
