Mike Eise wins WSOP Event #28

Tuesday, 16 June 2009

The three daughters of American amateur Mike can look forward to a trip to Disneyworld after Dad won the $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘Em event last night.

Eise outlasted a field of 2,638 players to take the first prize of $639,331 and his maiden WSOP bracelet. Eise had to come from behind to seal the win though, pushing all in holding 87 on a 3-6-3 rainbow flop. Heads up opponent Jeff Chang holding AJ called instantly. The turn brought a 7 giving Eise the lead and leaving Chang drawing very thin. The river was a harmless 5 to give the Missouri man victory.

“This is the only event I played in, this was the only event I wanted to play in, so it feels great to win it,” Eise said, adding that “I have three little girls at home and I’m going to take them to Disneyland.”

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Mike Eise - $639,331
2 Jeff Chang - $392,494
3 Rico Ramirez - $261,963
4 Jason Potter - $185,444
5 Barry Berger - $139,353
6 Zach Fritz - $111,266
7 Avi Braz - $93,622
8 Jose Luis Franco - $83,180
9 Mike Zulker - $77,778
