Middleton Tops EPT Barcelona Again

Friday, 6 September 2013

Tom Middleton enjoyed another profitable at the felt yesterday after he finished top of the chip chart in PokerStars EPT Barcelona's Main Event for a second day in a row.

Having started the day on top, Tom slipped from his dominant position for most of the session but never lost touch with the top five.

Whilst many assumed Alejandro Perez would continue to dominate, Tom seemed to remain composed and as time in the final few levels ticked by he was able to retain the lead with a late surge.

In contrast to Tom's continued good fortune, a number of pros found themselves heading for the rail before they could even catch site of the final table. Indeed, after Russell Thomas became the second casualty of the day the elimination floodgates seemed to open and walking through before the close of play was such luminaries as Mike Watson(47th - €18,200), Dimitar Danchev (44th - €18,200), Christophe De Meulder (36th - €21,440) and Martin Staskzko (25th - €29,270).

By the time yesterday's session was brought to a close just 24 players were left in contention ahead of today's ultimate session which will see a final table of eight set.
