Micro Festival Creates a Mega Winner

Micro Festival Creates a Mega Winner

Tuesday, 26 November 2013

The latest MicroMillions festival came to a conclusion on Sunday with another hugely successful Main Event.

Having attracted just over 59,000 players last time out, the organisers at PokerStars were hoping to breach that number and by the time registration had closed the $22 had topped 65,397 players. That impressive turnout helped to break the $1 million guarantee and send the prizepool over the $1.3 million mark.

With a top prize pitched at $167,090, some of poker's finest, including Jake Cody, Liv Boeree and Mickey Petersen, were grinding hard amongst the masses in search of another poker title.

However, despite a wealth of pros with a wealth of MTT experience being part of the line up, the final table was eventually contested by a group of keen amateurs. Indeed, by the time the tournament reached its pivotal moments it was 'TheManM', 'kabukiboy' and ZAR84 who took control.

After making their way past a glut of grinders, the dominant trio agreed to a lucrative deal before 'TheManM' eventually dispatched with 'kabukiboy' to claim the title and $126,842.

Following the conclusion of the Main Event the Player of the Series leaderboard was finalised and topping the chart after 100 events was Denmark's 'quixote123'. Having collected 530 points across the series the dedicated grinder was able to clinch the overall title and the top prize of six months' worth of Sunday Million tickets.
