Michael Tureniec Leads English Poker Open Final

Michael Tureniec Leads English Poker Open Final

Thursday, 17 September 2009

The English Poker Open final table was set at Nottingham’s premier poker venue, Dusk Til Dawn, last night. Leading the nine is Swedish pro Michael Tureniec, sitting atop a gargantuan stack of 405,000 chips.

Another notable name at the final table is Eric Liu, mid-to-high stakes cash game specialist and one of the chief instructors at renowned online poker video training site CardRunners. He sits in seventh place out of the remaining nine.

Swede Tureniec must be the favourite (see our interview with him here) – over the past 12 months, he has made a runner-up spot at the European Poker Tour London, won a side event in Amsterdam and right now he leads a November Nine of his own in the Partouche Poker Tour’s delayed final table. As chip leader here and with plenty of experience in these situations, he should go far.

The EPO Main Event carries a $5,300 buy-in and a first-place prize of over £200,000.
