After a final table which lasted for eleven hours, Sousa eventually buckled leaving Schulze as champion. Schulze entered the final table with the chip lead, although it took nine hours for the nine to become two. With Sousa as his biggest threat throughout the final two days, it seemed almost destined that it was Sousa who would tackle Schulze heads-up. As the session between them ground on for almost two hours, suddenly all of the chips were in the middle, with Schulze’s As-6s coming against the pocket sevens of Sousa. The flop came harmless enough for the pair, but the ace on the turn sealed the win for the 40-year-old stock trader from Schleswig, and saw Sousa leave with $536,276 for his second place finish. The next leg of the European Poker Tour will be held in San Remo, Italy and kicks off on 1st April.
