Michael Richardson has been crowned winner of the record-breaking Nottingham leg of the Genting Poker Series. Though Michael took the trophy it was Simon Deadman who walked away with the biggest score after agreeing a chop when play went three-handed.

38 of the 935 entrants started the final day at Dusk Till Dawn eyeing a potential first prize of £80,000, and with everyone having secured at least £1,800 it didn't take long for the action to warm up.

By early evening the final table of nine was set with Simon Deadman out in front. The first of the final nine to exit was double WSOP bracelet winner JP Kelly who was unlucky to run his AK into Deadman's pocket aces.

Chris Vernon followed soon after when his A8 couldn't come from behind to beat Michael Richardson's AK. Deadman's grip on the table grew even stronger soon after when his pocket kings held to beat Grant Mercado's AK.

By the time Niels Ladefoged departed in fifth, Deadman had half the chips in play and the former GUKPT Blackpool winner extended his advantage still further by knocking out start of day chip leader Stuart Guilian in fourth.

The final three agreed a deal which saw Deadman take £70,000, Tim Slater £42,500 and short stack Michael Richardson £38,000. That left £1,000, the trophy and the first place flag on the Hendon Mob database to play for.

Slater's challenge was the first to come a cropper, his flopped two pair unable to improve to a full house against Deadman's nut flush.

With a two-to-one chip deficit to overturn, Richardson looked an unlikely winner but luck arrived at just the right times, most notably hitting a 5 holding A5 against Deadman's A10. With the clock approaching 4.10am Richardson, who qualified for just £60, finally sealed the win, when his pocket 10s held to beat Deadman's A8.

1st – £39,000 - Michael Richardson
2nd – £70,000 - Simon Deadman
3rd - £42,500 - Tim Slater
4th - £16,500 - Stuart Guilian
