The familiar figure of Michael Mizrachi is the leader after the opening flight of the PokerStars EPT Barcelona Main Event.

476 players took to the felt in the Catalan capital and by the close of the Day 1a action The Grinder had managed to build a stack of 186,000. Britain's Charlie Combes (172,400) was Mizrachi's closest challenger, followed by the Russian duo of Dmitriy Yurashov (163,700) and Maksim Semishoshenko (153,500).

There were plenty of notable names the 270 survivors from Thursday including Bryn Kenney, Max Pescatori, Johnny Lodden, Ole Schemion, Dank Shak and WSOP November Niner Martin Jacobson.
