Michael Bouskila claims Aussie Millions six-max title

Friday, 25 January 2013

Last night saw the latest event from the Aussie Millions Poker Championship come to a close with Michael Bouskila overcoming the festival's second largest field so far to claim victory.

The large field of 523 players for the 1,100 buy-in no-limit hold'em six-max event created a total prize pool of $523,000 and even attracted one of the game's best in Neil Channing from the UK.

Channing posted a strong performance and carved his way through the masses before eventually faltering with just nine players left. Having been forced into shove or fold mode, Channing took a stand at the wrong time with pocket nines and ran into the pocket jacks of Vlastimil Stastny. An uneventful board sent Neil to the rail $8,000 richer while Stastny went on to finish in fifth place for $32,000.

With just a handful of players left it was Bouskila who led the way with a stack of over four million chips. By the time only two players remained there was little Tom Grigg could do to stop Bouskila from taking the title. Despite doubling up early in the match, he eventually fell away and left Bouskila to bank his first Aussie Millions Poker Championship title for $110,000.
