Melanie Weisner leads EPT Copenhagen field into Day 3

Thursday, 23 February 2012

A total of 179 players turned out for Day 2 of PokerStars EPT Copenhagen and just over 100 eliminations later, we were left with 72 and Melanie Weisner leading the way into Day 3. She took the chip lead in the last level to finish the day with 368,200.

Other notable names to survive include Luca Pagano – obviously – as well as Johnny Lodden, Martin Staszko and both opening day chip leaders Steve O’Dwyer and Mads Wissing. Recent WPT Venice finalist Simon Ravnsbaek also chipped up to finish second. Former Hull City boss Jan Molby is still in, as are Juha Helppi, Michael Tureniec and PokerStars pro Pierre Neuville.

Weisner’s chips built up steadily throughout the day until one big pot at the end threw her into the lead, as she raised the river of a J-9-4-T-X board with the nut K-Q and received a call from flopped two pair.
Today the tournament plays down to the bubble with 48 players guaranteed roughly $9,800. The winner of the event will take home 2.515 DKK ($480,000).
