Mediterranean Deepstack Poker Championships begin today

Thursday, 12 May 2011

Casino Portoroz on the coast of Slovenia is the host of much deepstacked poker action over the next few days as Day 1a of the €550 Mediterranean Deepstack Poker Championship begins today. The 500-player capacity tournament also promises “the best poker buffet you will ever get” for free, so that’s some +EV already.

The event plays Day 1a today and Day 1b tomorrow before bringing the two fields together and playing down to a final table. We recently saw Thomas Luther win €38,000 for his victory in the Austrian Deepstack Poker Championship and D4 events are promising another big first prize with two side events in addition to the Main Event.

Those of us who can’t travel to Slovenia have some good news – in September the second English Deepstack Poker Championship is arriving at Birmingham’s Broadway Casino with a £550 Main Event and a £300 and £200 series of side events. The event will have a capacity of 400 players so don’t be surprised to see a £200,000 prize pool.
