Matthew Waxman wins WSOP Circuit Atlantic City

Wednesday, 15 December 2010

Once again proving that our inside knowledge and instincts when it comes to poker are sharper than Reese Witherspoon’s chin, Matthew Waxman has secured a victory over the final table at the World Series of Poker Circuit event in Atlantic City.

In yesterday’s final table report we said that “Matthew Waxman... [his] skills and position to the left of all the other seven-figure stacks could well make him a favourite at this final table” and were proved correct when Waxman beat Jesus Cabrera, not Ferguson, for the title when he flopped a set with 3-3 against 6-6 after a pre-flop raising war.

Brandon Croft, who arrived at the final table as the chip leader – 63,000 ahead of Waxman – haemorrhaged his stack from the instant he sat down and ended up finishing in eighth position after handing some of his chips to Waxman to double the eventual winner.

The full final table payouts and positions were as follows:

1.Matthew Waxman - $117,797
2.Jesus Cabrera - $72,824
3.Mark Sykes - $53,126
4.Chris Bonita - $39,406
5.Dave Cubeta - $29,685
6.Mike Summers - $22,704
7.Tam Ly - $17,618
8.Brandon Croft - $13,869
9.Manish Patel - $11,073
