Martyn Frey wins GUKPT Coventry

Martyn Frey wins GUKPT Coventry

Tuesday, 28 August 2012

After a couple of fairly sparsely attended affairs numbers were up for the latest GUKPT Main Event with 122 entrants hitting the tables at the G Casino in Coventry over the weekend.

After three days of action it was Martyn Frey who emerged victorious. Like GUKPT Goliath winner Les Fenton, Frey went into the final day with the chip lead and just like Fenton he was in control for most of the final table.

After Lee French was eliminated in third place it was left to Manchester Matt Davenport to try and stop the Frey express. The pair got the majority of the chip in on a 9-5-3-2 board with Davenport on the draw against Frey's 2-3. The river blanked leaving Davenport crippled. The end came soon after with Frey winning a flip with K7 to beat Davenport's pocket 5s.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1st £36,610 Martyn Frey
2nd £25,920 Matt Davenport
3rd £16,160 Lee French
4th £10,060 Simon Deadman
5th £7,930 Dean Aldred
6th £6,100 Alan Taddei
7th £4,880 Ray Power
8th £3,660 Ainis Radauskas
9th £2,740 Terry Mitford

The GUKPT heads to London's Victoria Casino next month as part of the London Poker Festival. Qualify for the £1,000+£70 Main Event online at G Casino Poker.
