The latest incarnation of the iPoker network's $1m guaranteed iPOPS tournament series got under way on Sunday and there was British success to report in the first event.

Martin Malone, playing on BlackBeltPoker.com, took down the $200k guaranteed iPOPS opener. The 28-year-old pocketed a first prize of $34,141.28 after navigating his way through a field of 1,707 runners in the $200+$15 event.

Malone is no stranger to success at the business end of big MTTs having made consecutive final table appearances in iPoker's $200k GTD event late in 2011.

BlackBelt head honcho Neil Channing was impressed at the performance of one of his players, telling the BlackBeltPoker blog, “I've played with Martin in live comps a couple of times and he's modest about his talent. A good player.”

The iPOPS series continues at 7pm tomorrow with a $40+$4 R/A affair which features a guaranteed prize pool of $50,000. There an estimated $100k to be won on Friday in the $100+9 Double Chance Deepstack before the series biggie on Sunday. A guaranteed prize pool of $550k is up for grabs in a $200+$15 freezeout that gets under way at 5pm UK time.
