Mark 'Ratboy71' Brittain has been crowned the latest winner on the Sky Poker Tour. The 38-year-old outlasted a field of 125 players that was made up of Sky Poker qualifiers and a variety of special guests including former boxing champ Nicky Piper, WSOP bracelet winner James Dempsey and Sky Poker presenter and arguably the worst batsman ever to play for England, Ed Giddins.

Brittain went into the final table as one of the short stacks but a timely double up pushed him nicely into contention. After local player John Heir was eliminated in third place it was left to Diggerman to try and stop the Rat run. It proved a vain attempt though as Brittain doubled up with pocket 5s against Diggerman's A4. Diggerman, holding pocket 8s, looked set for a comeback when the chips went in with Brittain tabling A8. The first 4 cards were blanks but an ace on river gave Ratboy71 the title and with it a first prize of £4,000.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Mark Brittain £4,000
2 Chris Blaynee £2,600
3 John Hier £1,800
4 Tommy Dyer £1,350
5 Steve Luke £1,050
6 Alan Thomas £900
7 James Limmer £750
8 Carl Williams £600
9 William Taylor £450

The Sky Poker Tour heads to Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham for the Grand Final on the weekend of 11th and 12th November.
