Marcin Barwinski takes UKIPT Marbella Lead

Saturday, 14 June 2014

The money bubble has burst at UKIPT Marbella with just 71 of the 750 starters still hunting a bumper pay day.

Poland's Marcin Barwinski is the man to beat heading into day three. The 22-year-old online qualifier, who is playing in his maiden UKIPT tournament, returns with 851,000.

The biggest name in the Marbella field is Jake Cody and the man from Rochdale is still very much in contention. The triple crown winner will start today with a very workable 354,000. It could have been even better for Cody who lost a big pot with AK against AQ shortly before the close.

Day 1a leader Ken Lennaard (546,000) also survived day 2, as did British Poker Award winner Sam Grafton (262,000).

Notable bustouts included defending champ Ludovic Geilich, PokerStars pros Leo Margets and Dale Philp and Bluff Europe's Nick Wealthall.

The chip leaders are as follows:

Marcin Barwinski, Poland, PokerStars Qualifier, 825,000
Vicente Delgado, Spain, PokerStars Team Online, 585,000
Ken Lennaard, Sweden, 546,000
