Marcel Luske and Jason Mercier join Team Poker Stars

Wednesday, 1 July 2009

Holland’s Marcel Luske and American Jason Mercier are the latest names to join the pro ranks at Team Poker Stars.

Dapper Dutchman Luske is one of the most recognisable faces (and voices) on the circuit. As well as cashing in tournaments throughout the world, he has still had time to found ‘Federation Internationale de Poker Association’ (FIDPA) which aims to standardise the rules of poker throughout the world. The Flying Dutchman was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the European Poker Awards in 2008.

Jason Mercier has been on a complete heater since winning last year’s Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure. The 22-year-old followed up that impressive performance with wins at EPT events in London and San Remo not forgetting his first bracelet win in the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha event at this year’s WSOP.

Commenting on the deal Mercier said “Becoming a member of Team Poker Stars Pro means a lot to me. I’m so excited to be playing for the site I first started playing on. I feel like this solidifies my standing as one of the top poker players’ around.” said Mercier.

Luske and Mercier join a pro stable that already includes Daniel Negreanu, Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, Barry Greenstein and Peter Eastgate.
