Marc Goodwin Up For Dual Player Of The Year Awards?

Marc Goodwin Up For Dual Player Of The Year Awards?

Friday, 5 December 2008

After a red-hot run the UK pro could win the GUKPT and European Player of the Year Awards in an unprecedented achievement.

Although there has been no official word from the head honchos at the GUKPT, Marc Goodwin could well be in contention for the GUKPT Player of the Year title after a staggering run of final tables. In addition he won the Manchester Main Event and a Blackpool side event.

However, in a nice twist for Birmingham’s most talented export since Black Sabbath, he could also be up for the European Player of the Year award after his triple-final table run at last week’s festival.

Unofficial estimations have Goodwin ranked higher than current leader of the PokerinEurope rankings Jason Mercier after those final tables. This year Goodwin has made 11 ranking final tables and won two events outright, with earnings well over £150,000 for the year. We’re not sure which he’ll be happier about – the accolades from his peers or the fact that we didn’t use a rubbish Goodwin/good win pun in the headline.
