Mama Mizrachi speaks out

Mama Mizrachi speaks out

Tuesday, 2 November 2010

Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi made history this year in many ways – not only has he become the first $50,000 Players’ Championship winner to make the coveted November Nine final table of the Main Event in the same WSOP; he and his brothers became the only set of four siblings to all cash in the Main Event – though none did quite so well as Michael, sitting pretty at the final table.

The Mizrachi brothers proved that their gene pool is a poker tour d’force at this WSOP with the four brothers – Michael, Robert, Eric and Daniel Jay – all making a run for the glory at the WSOP Main Event. Eric finished 718th; Daniel Jay finished 345th; Robert finished 116th and Michael has made it to the final nine.

"I'm glad my children are happy and doing something they love," says the woman who birthed four poker players, Susan Mizrachi. "But I'll be honest with you, I really wish they had grown up to be doctors.
"It's been a roller-coaster ride," said 58-year-old Susan who can be found on poker sites and Twitter as MommaGrinder. "But that's poker."

In addition, both Robert and Michael final tabled perhaps the most prestigious WSOP event outside of the Main Event when both made it to the last hurdle of the $50,000 Players’ Championship. Despite Robert’s efforts, Michael lifted the Chip Reese Memorial trophy and claimed the seven-figure prize for beating tournament poker’s toughest event.
