Major Swedish newspaper interviews Viktor “Isildur1” Blom

Wednesday, 12 January 2011

Aftonbladet, the largest newspaper in Sweden, has published an interview with Viktor Blom, the newest member of Team PokerStars Pro. Blom revealed that on his original huge run at Full Tilt Poker, he thought he had actually won the record $1.3m pot against Patrik Antonius:

“The hand was so sick because I was looking at the screen between the fingers when the final cards came. First I thought I had won, but then I realized that I actually lost the hand.”

Blom said, though, that money is meaningless to him and that he plays because he loves the game. He began playing at 14 but only deposited online when he was 18 years old, when he ran $2,000 to $2m within the space of three weeks.

He also revealed that he believes himself to be the world’s best heads-up NL player in the world currently and that despite his infamous Isildur1 moniker, he is not a huge fan of Lord of the Rings.
