MaharajahClub.com, first online gaming site to specifically target the Asian market in the UK, Europe and South East Asia, is set to widen its reach when play-for-fun only gaming site MaharajahClub.net goes live in India tomorrow, November 1.
In light of the new Act which restricts online gambling in the US, the company believes that it is ideally placed to make an impact in the up-and-coming market in India. As the focus switches to new markets, Maharajah Club says it will use its strong cultural relevancy and team of experts to make its mark in Asia.
Poker is a reasonably new pastime among India’s middle-classes but Maharajah Club expects it will follow the success other western pop culture trends which Indians have embraced.
“This is the first time an online gaming company has targeted an audience based on ethnicity,” said Sachin Pawa, Maharajah Gaming CEO. “By targeting ethnically, we can cater to the culturally specific needs of our clients in a way that no other casino on the net can.”
Maharajah Club will sponsor the Asian Poker Classic, the first major professional poker tournament to be held in India, which will be held in Goa from March 1 to 4 2007.
