MUFC Stars Battle for Chips

MUFC Stars Battle for Chips

Tuesday, 20 November 2012

Manchester United’s stars are used to winning on the football pitch but on the poker table their skills aren’t quite silky as when they’ve got a ball at their feet.

However, thanks to the guidance of Tony G, some of the Red Devil’s finest were able to mix it up across the felt for a special charity poker tournament.

Hosted by PartyPoker, the six player shootout took place recently with Tony and Anders Lindergaard providing the commentary.

Before the match got underway Tony gave his verdict on the players:
Jonny Evans – “you are not a rock Jonny”.
Phil Jones – “Poker is about versatility and you have that abounds”
Rafael da Silva – “You have pace and potential at the table.”
Tom Cleverley – “do not overplay King-Jack.”
Darren Fletcher – “You need a big engine, heart commitment and experience to push your chips over the line.”
Danny Wellbeck – “Quick thinking, deft touch and positional sense.”

Following Tony’s observations, the tournament played out and after battling back-and-forth it was Jonny Evans who won the match and regained the title he won last year.

Commenting on his win, Jonny said: “Some people will say I am lucky but now I have proven I am the number one champ,” and earned some bragging rights in the dressing room.
