Luca Pagano wins Italian Poker Tour San Remo for €210,000

San Remo has birthed many poker talents with big tournament wins – both Liv Boeree and Jason Mercier won their first major live tournaments in the Italian city. Now an old school tournament legend has scored six figures in San Remo and kept the trophy in Italy after Luca Pagano won the IPT San Remo for €210,000.

Pagano is best known for his huge performances on the EPT circuit with a record 18 cashes across seven seasons of the European Poker Tour. His own big break came with a third place finish at his first EPT cash in Barcelona back in 2004.

He beat a 426-strong field in San Remo to take the prize down, besting Romanian player Dan Murariu after getting it in with A-Q and hugely dominating against Q-9, which couldn’t find any salvation despite turning a gutshot draw.
