A Vancouver area poker tournament is to receive help from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) when it kicks off later this month.
The second annual Pacific Poker Shootout at the Cascades Casino in Langley begins on August 31st and will have an estimated total prize pool of $567,000 with the winner receiving $118,000. Stuart Bagri of North Vancouver took home the title at last year’s Shootout and received $48,485.
“This year's tournament promises to be bigger and better,' said Darryl Schiewe, Acting Vice-President of Casino Gaming for BCLC.
'The Pacific Poker Shootout features three exciting days of tournament play with everyone's favourite game, No Limit Texas Hold 'Em.'
The tournament will include two No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em Shootout events with the August 31st event having an estimated prize pool of $99,229 based on 350 players and a $283.51 buy-in. The events on September 1 and 2 will have an estimated prize pool of $473,000 based on a maximum of 500 players and a $944 buy-in.
The Shootout will see players just competing against other participants at their table instead of everyone in the room with only three rounds until a champion is declared. In order to advance to the second round, players must place in the top two at their own table.
The top five players from each table in the second round will share a portion of the prize pool. The winners from each table in the second round will move on to the final table where the last player remaining will be crowned champion.
