Londoner wins French Championship of Online Poker.

Wednesday, 27 October 2010

While the stereotype that the French are a bunch of cheese-eating surrender monkeys may not be true (they have the fourth largest military in the world and a good track record in the hundreds of wars they have fought) it won’t stop us making the jokes. Especially not when a British based player beats out a 1,344-strong field in the €500 buy-in French championship of online poker.

Part of PokerStars’s Regional Online Poker Championships (the UKCOOP begins in December, as we’ve told you before), the French Championship of Online Poker saw 1,344 players create a prize pool of €622,272 to bust wide open the €500,000 guarantee. In the end London-based player Siicklas took down the event to take home €96,000 after a five-handed deal. Non-French players can play on PokerStars.fr so long as they have a European bank account.

The final table payouts were as follows:

1. Siicklas - €96,268
2. defray_w83 - €60,271
3. musicalpj - €63,848
4. Pokerjuif - €59,427
5. hinayaa - €73,186
6. GuyNuX - €23,335
7. rodmaster198 - €16,335
8. quent162 – €10,734
9. Nico Turtle - €7,093
