London Poker Festival 2010

Wednesday, 7 July 2010

Las Vegas may usually be the capital of the poker universe but London will have that accolade this September.

The capital will be hosting the largest selection of poker events ever staged on this side of the Atlantic. Kicking things off on 28th August will be the first World Poker Tour (WPT) London Classic followed by the English Poker Open. As if they weren't enough there's also the small matter of the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) throughout the second half of September. This trio of top class tournament series will boast a prize pool of a whopping £9m.

The London Poker Festival will also feature a series of smaller buy in events throughout a dozen London card rooms offering a further £1m in prize money taking the total pool past the £10m mark.

Europe's biggest poker festival, Poker in the Park will also be back for a fourth year. The two-day extravaganza attracted over 20,000 poker lovers last year and promises to be even bigger and better this time around. The event will feature marquees full of lectures and tutorials from some of the game's biggest pros, a host of freeroll tournaments, plus the chance to try out the latest in poker technology and stock up on discounted poker books and merchandise.

The newly created British Poker Awards will honour the best players from Britain and Europe in an open to the public ceremony that will also feature an exclusive pro-am tournament.

And did I mention, Poker Academy tutorial lectures and seminars, pro-player autograph sessions, a private Bluff Europe Rocks concert, charity poker tournaments, celebrity player hosted parties, and the first ever Baller Strip Poker championships.
