Local PLO specialist Dave Callaghan leads WPT Ireland

The inaugural WPT Ireland went pretty well for Day 1 with a field of 338 forgoing the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for some action in the Emerald Isle. Local player and Omaha specialist Dave Callaghan leads the way with 186,900 chips.

Andy Black was another local doing well with a six-figure stack putting him ninth in the chip counts. Other notable survivors included poker couple McLean Karr and Tatjana Pasalic as well as newly-patched PKR pro Jake Cody.


Ben Jackson will return with an above average stack, as will Ross Boatman, Sam El Sayed, Marty Smyth and former World Snooker champion Ken Doherty.


Day 2 will resume today at 14:00 GMT with the 195 of the 338 starters returning. The average stack is 52,000 and blinds of 400/800/100. Prize pool confirmation and payouts will be made at some point today.
