PartyPoker World Open V Well Underway

Tuesday, 13 October 2009

The PartyPoker World Poker Open V has kicked off in London, with several top pros turning out to compete. Phil Laak showed up after totally dominating the first evening of his heat but really had to work in order to make it through the next day.

After losing a big pot with AK against TT, the High Stakes Poker regular had to bluff, shove and luckbox his way to a heads-up battle against PartyPoker Palladium Lounge Elite player Patrick Funke. Their heads-up battle was over in a lot less time than Luke Schwartz’s epic two-handed affair the day before – Laak got it in dominated with A8 v AK but rivered a flush to go through to the next round.

Heat 4 begins today with former England football star Teddy Sheringham in the chip lead.

Joining him at the final table will be Luke Schwartz who won heat one. Heats three and four will be completed today with two more heats tomorrow. The final takes place on Thursday with the winner taking home $250,000.
