The nine teams that will compete for this year's World Cup of Poker have been decided with the UK in with a shot of global glory and the $100,000 first prize.

The nine teams that will compete for this years World Cup of Poker have been decided with the UK in with a shot of global glory and the $100,000 first prize.


Joining the UK side in The Bahamas at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will be teams from Argentina, Philippines, Spain, Slovakia, Italy, France, Ukraine and the USA. A host of top names will be captaining each nation with Liv Boeree leading the UK line up. Newly created Team PokerStars pro Dag Palovic will head the Slovakia team with Jose 'Nacho' Barbero skippering Argentina. Team PokerStars Pro Juan Manuel Pastor will lead Spain, Luca Pagano Italy and Arnaud Mattern will take the helm for France. Partouche Poker Main Event winner Vanessa Selbst will be hoping to get 2011 off to a flying start by leading the US team with EPT Kiev runner up Alexander Dovzhenko named Ukraine captain.


The World Cup action will get under way on 14th January with a series of SNG and heads up events that will determine the starting stack for each country. The tag team style final will take place a day later until one country is crowned the new World Cup of Poker champion.


Chinese Taipei, led by Raymond Wu, beat Croatia to win last year's PokerStars World Cup of Poker.
