Liv Boeree and Anders Berg win WCOOP bracelets

Monday, 12 September 2011

The PokerStars WCOOP is rolling on with more bracelets and six-figure scores being handed out every day. Last night was a particularly notable one for PokerStars Pros – not only did Team Online’s Anders “Donald” Berg win his record-equalling third WCOOP bracelet, Liv Boeree survived a 2,582-strong field in the WCOOP Second Chance #21 $109 event.

Berg saw his third bracelet come in the $215 6-max PLO event, manoeuvring through a field of 712 to arrive at the final table of an event that smashed the $250,000 guarantee without too much trouble. Berg arrived at the six-handed final with the second-shortest stack but quickly experienced the upside of Omaha variance, eventually coming heads-up with a slight chip deficit. However, his fifth WCOOP final table also proved to be his third win, equalling Ryan “g0lfa” D’Angelo’s triple bracelets and claiming the record – until ElkY inevitably wins five more this year.

Meanwhile, Liv Boeree had made the final table of the $109 NL Second Chance WCOOP event, which she wound up winning after surviving a 2,582-strong field to ship a first prize of more than $40,000. This isn’t her first big score on PokerStars – just recently she took down the Womens’ Sunday event and prior to this she has won the Sunday Warm-Up.

The lesson? If you’re Liv Boeree, only play on Sundays.
