Linton Leads ISPT

Linton Leads ISPT

Wednesday, 5 June 2013

Months of preparation and days of battling inside the iconic surroundings of Wembley Stadium has left just six players vying for the ISPT title.

Yesterday’s session saw 20 hopefuls return for a shot at the €1 million top prize and after a day of action it was the UK’s Pete Linton leading the way. Having sat amongst the chip leaders for most of the tournament, Linton finally bagged the biggest stack when Day 5 came to a conclusion.

When the tournament was down to its final table a potential deal was discussed, however, after mulling over the numbers the negotiation was eventually abandoned and play resumed as before.
At this point Linton was about to exert his will over the table and bag 11,070,000 chips at the close of play. That haul was enough to put Linton over 3 million chips ahead of satellite qualifier Alban Juen (7,615,000).

Joining Linton in the final is fellow Brit and Dusk Till Dawn regular, Nick Hicks as well as the tournament’s lone surviving female player, Gwendoline Janot (6,230,000).

Today’s session will kick off later and when the players return it’s expected that a deal will be struck in order to flatten the payouts and give everyone a fair share of the remaining prizepool.
