The film is written by Christopher Wilkinson, who also penned the Oscar-nominated Muhammed Ali biopic Ali starring Will Smith. He’s got credentials, then, but can he do Amarillo justice?

By selecting a track in which the racers had to turn around and run back in the other direction, Slim used the stallion’s own momentum against him and was back across the finish line far before the jockey turned the horse around.
