Lights, Camera, Gamble – Amarillo Slim To Have Biographical Movie

Gambling legend Amarillo Slim has probably, at some point, made a wager as to who would play him in the movie of his life. Well, he’s just won or lost some money as according to industry sources Nicholas Cage is to play Slim in a film about the great man’s life.
The film is written by Christopher Wilkinson, who also penned the Oscar-nominated Muhammed Ali biopic Ali starring Will Smith. He’s got credentials, then, but can he do Amarillo justice?
Eighty-year-old Thomas Austin Preston, Jr. is a household name in terms of betting. This is, after all, the man who bet he could outrace a champion racehorse – and won. By selecting a track in which the racers had to turn around and run back in the other direction, Slim used the stallion’s own momentum against him and was back across the finish line far before the jockey turned the horse around. Oh, and he’s got four of those bracelet thingummies, too.
