Let’s Play Poker, Boy

Let’s Play Poker, Boy

Whenever a company like Playboy announces that they are ready to return to the poker market, the male section of the community can't help but smile.

Indeed, while their previous offering on the Cryptologic Network might not have been the most innovative or prestigious site in the world, the motifs and backdrops certainly made it an interesting place to play.

While the impact of UIGEA forced the adult entertainment company out of the poker industry in 2009, a new deal with Ongame Network owners, Amaya Gaming Group, now means that the sight of scantily clad woman at the virtual felt will return.

A global licensing deal between the two companies will pave the way for a series of branded Playboy poker sites sometime in 2013.

Scott Flanders, Playboy’s CEO, sees the two industries as similar in many ways and is keen to push his company’s ethos through the new products:
“The Playboy lifestyle is about indulging our passions, and we are focused on bringing content, products and experiences to consumers around the globe that define this lifestyle.”

Poker’s link with Playboy goes beyond the virtual felt as one of the game’s notable female players, Jennifer Leigh, once posed nude for the magazine - much to the delight of her many fans.

Indeed, if anyone is in line for a sponsorship deal with the newly branded sites, it should be her.
