Lellouche and Sarwer lead the way in Vilamoura

Lellouche and Sarwer lead the way in Vilamoura

Friday, 20 November 2009

Antony Lellouche and Jeff Sarwer are holding the big stacks at the end of Day 2 of the latest EPT event in Portugal. If that sentence sounds vaguely familiar then it should be as the same two players headed the field on Day 1B and Day 2 at EPT Warsaw last month. Both players boosted their stacks this time round by busting some very high profile names, namely Shaun Deeb and Jason Mercier.

Joining them at the head of the chip counts are Team PokerStars Pro Ruben Visser, Day 1A chip leader Lubomir Josipovic and Martin Wendt. The big mover on Day 2 was newly signed Poker Stars pro Jude Ainsworth. Starting the day amongst the short stacks, the Irishman worked his way up to 230,600 chips, leaving him tenth overall.

It wasn’t such a good day for the British contingent though. Of the remaining 69 players only Gino Gabriel and Ross Boatman have made it through to Day 3. Both are in the upper reaches though and are handily placed to make a deep run.

The chip leaders going into Day 3 are:

Jeff Sarwer 549,800

Antony Lellouche 484,700

Ruben Visser 389,500

Ljubomir Josipovic 371,700

Martin Wendt 360,300

Luis Rodriguez 321,500

Pierre Neuville 270,500

Gino Gabriel 264,800

Johan Van Til 259,500

Jude Ainsworth 230,600

Play resumes today at 12pm today.
