Saturday, 24 November 2012

The World Poker Tour’s latest trip to Canada promised to be a biggie and if the opening flight of WPT Montreal is anything to go by it certainly will be.

A bumper field of 478 were on hand for Day 1a in Quebec with 141 making it through to the close. Leading the way at bagging up time was Patrick Lelievre on 326,100 followed by Kerry Shears on 299,100 and Jean-Louis Forino on 272,000.

Notable names who survived the opening flight included Joseph Cheong, Dominik Nitsche, Tony Dunst, Allen Kessler, Peter Jetten, and Tristan Wade.

Day 1B promises to be even bigger with over 500 players already registered. Those numbers could swell still further as WPT Montreal is a re-entry event and some players will no doubt fire a second $3,300 barrel.

The close of day 1A chip leaders were as follows:

1 Patrick Lelievre 326,100
2 Kerry Shears 299,300
3 Jean-Louis Forino 272,000
4 Marc-Andre Ladouceur 247,300
5 Ben Armstrong 221,700
6 Guillaume Decaen 214,200
