Lecomte Wins Unibet Cannes

Monday, 23 September 2013

There was a home win in the latest leg of the Unibet Open series as Quentin Lecomte took the honours in this weekend's stop in Cannes.

The Frenchman is a member of Unibet Poker's pro team and boosted his bankroll by €100,000 after outlasting a field of 313 runners in the Riviera resort.

Lecomte secured his best ever live score after working his way through a final table that included Paul Valkenburg, Paul Tedeschi and Thierry Morel before beating Sweden's Linus Hjulstrom heads up. Two-handed play was something of an epic with Lecomte taking three hours to finally grind his opponent down. After overturning a chip deficit that reached 5 to 1 at one stage he eventually sealed victory and the six-figure score when his pocket 77s held against Hjulstrom's ace king.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Quentin Lecomte (€100,000)
2 Linus Hjulstrom (€69,800)
3 Linas Laurinenas (€44,900)
4 Paul Tedeschi (€33,250)
5 Thierry Morel (€24,950)
6 Joni Salo (€19,950)
7 Paul Valkenburg (€16,550)
8 Joao Silva (€13,270)
9 Dmitry Varlamov (€10,000)

The Unibet Open heads to Latvia for its next stop with Riga the venue for the €1,500+€150 event from 5-8 December. Qualify online at Unibet Poker.
