Latin America Poker Tour season four announced, amigos

Is it just us or is the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure one of the most shuffled-about tournaments in the world? It has been a WPT, EPT and NAPT event but now for 2011 it belongs to the Latin America Poker Tour, one of the fastest-growing tours that PokerStars host and one that begins its fourth run next year with the PCA.

Six events will play out, beginning with the $10,000 PCA in the Bahamas next month. In January of this year, Harrison Gimbel beat a field of 1,529 players to win the lion’s share of the largest prize pool outside of the WSOP Main Event, taking home $2.2m after beating Tyler Reiman heads-up.

After the PCA, the PokerStars crew will take their tournaments to Sao Paulo, Brazil; Vina del Mar, Chile; Lima, Peru; Rosario, Argentinia; Bogota, Colombia; culminating in the LAPT Grand Final of which details have yet to be confirmed. Last year the LAPT Grand Finale was a $4,700 affair in Rosario, Argentina, with Martin Sansour taking home $322,280 after beating a 258-styrong field of US and Latin American players.

Satellites will be running for all LAPT events on PokerStars; in fact there’s still time for you to earn a generous PCA package before January. You can work your way through the steps system or directly buy in to a satellite tournament for $500 or $600. Take a decent wad with you, though – we hear its expensive on Paradise Island.
