Ladbrokes Irish Poker Festival announced

Wednesday, 1 April 2009

The 2009 Ladbrokes Irish Poker Festival will take place in the beautiful city of Killarney from 2nd to 4th October. The €500+50 buy in Main Event, which attracted a massive field of 832 runners last year, will be held at the Irish National Events Centre with the prize pool guaranteed at €250,000. Stacks will be deep, starting at 15,000 chips with a one hour clock.

Head of Events and Promotions at the site, Nigel Blower said, “We’ve created a tournament that offers players a €5,000 structure for a €500 buy-in, allowing all players irrespective of bankroll to show their deep stack skills.”

In addition to the three day Main Event there will be two smaller side events with buy ins of €300 euro and €170.

Cork’s Jimmy McSweeney beat a field which included Roy Brindley and WSOP bracelet winner Marty Smith to claim last year’s Main Event title, pocketing a first prize of €100,000.

Qualifiers are ongoing at Ladbrokespoker.com. Packages worth €950 are up for grabs including 3 nights’ accommodation at the Gleneagles Hotel as well as the buy in. Satellites for the weekly qualifier are running from just €5.
