LA Poker Classic money bubble bursts with 72 left

Tuesday, 2 March 2010

Day 3 of the World Poker Tour’s LAPC $15,000 main event saw the starting field of 186 narrowed down to just 72, with all the players now in the money and being lead in the chip counts by Mark Newhouse, who is after his second WPT title.

Newhouse has almost half a million in chips but he is by no means the only big stack out of the 72 players. Chris Moore, Masa Kagawa, John Cautela, and Shawn Pilot have all surpassed the 400,000 milestone.

There are a number of huge names left in the field - Vanessa Rousso, Erica Schoenberg, Hoyt Corkins, Daniel Negreanu, Annie Duke, Carlos Mortensen, Johnny Chan and Prahlad Friedman are still in the hunt for the $1.7m first prize.

Unfortunately some more decorated poker names couldn’t avoid slamming into the rail on Day 3 before the money bubble – Barry Greenstein, Howard Lederer, Paul Wasicka and Jennifer Tilly all left the Commerce Casino before the day’s end.

Thomas Fuller became the bubble boy, finishing in 73rd place when he ran AK into AA. All 72 remaining players are guaranteed $18,595, so join us tomorrow to find out who is still in contention for a seven-figure payday in LA.
