Kristijonas Andrulis heads EPT Deauville

Wednesday, 1 February 2012

The opening flight of the latest PokerStars EPT event in Deauville attracted a very healthy starting field of 339 starters, with 221 making it back for Day 2. Leading the way at the close was former EPT Tallinn High Roller winner Kristijonas Andrulis on 162,600 followed by Philippe Ma 162,400 and Elie Payan 141,800.

As expected, there was a strong British presence at the French resort with Chris Brammer 80,700, James Mitchell 80,000 and James Dempsey 50,900 all putting in a nice opening shift. Other familiar names surviving the day included Tom MacDonald and Kara Scott.

2010 WSOP Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel was the highest profile opening day casualty. Joining the Canadian on the rail were the likes of Shaun Deeb, Martin Jacobson and Constant Rijkenberg.

Organisers are expected the Day 1B field to double that of the opening flight which means we could be reaching for the record books once again.
