Kostic heads EPT Barcelona

Monday, 2 September 2013

As has been the case with virtually all the events at the PokerStars EPT Barcelona festival there was a bumper crowd on hand for the opening flight of the €5,000+€300 Main Event.

All told, 518 players took to the felt on day 1a and by the close of play 288 were remaining. Leading the way was Dragan Kostic. The Serbian-born veteran now calls Mallorca home and bagged up an impressive 218,000 chips, well ahead of closest rival Niclas Adolfsson of Sweden who bagged up 147,400.

Albert Daher's good run has continued with last month's WPT Cyprus runner up closing the day in sixth place with 127,700. Other notables who made a good start in the Catalan capital included Bryn Kenney 115,000, Alexander Stevic 103,000, Scott Seiver 84,400, Vanessa Selbst 75,800 and Dani Stern 65,500.

Jack Salter heads the UK challenge on 103,100 with Tom Middleton 92,700 and Sky Poker pundit Ryan Spittles 78,800 also flying the flag for Blighty. Toby Lewis will have his work cut out though. The former EPT Vilamoura winner returns with just 8,800.
