Kimmo Kurko heads WPT Baden

Thursday, 21 February 2013

The WPT caravan has worked its way to the Austrian city of Baden for its latest stop with a total of 254 players buying in during two opening flights.

Of those, 131 have made it through to day 2 where there'll be chasing a first prize of $271,258. Leading the way is Kimmi Kurko on 149,700 followed by Senadin Cosic 135,800, Andrey Shatilov 134,700 and Paolo Compagno 133,800.

Mitchell Johnson on 132,200 leads the healthy sprinkling of British and Irish players still chasing the cash followed by Tom Carpenter on 84,000.

There are plenty of big names still chasing a share of the $1m prize pool including Marvin Rettenmaier 86,000, WSOP November Niner Martin Staszko 61,500, Irishman Dermot Blain 55,000 and Kara Scott 41,800.

PartyPoker pro Bodo Sbrzesny is very much in the hunt too, thanks largely to winning a big pot with a royal flush against the unfortunate Christian Golob's full house.

Other notables to bust out were Michael 'The Grinder' Mizrachi, British heads up specialist Leon Louis and Marcel Luske.

The action resumes at 1pm local time.
