Kimber Takes GUKPT Lead

Kimber Takes GUKPT Lead

Saturday, 21 September 2013

As expected the Day 1B field at GUKPT Manchester was bigger than the first opening flight but they couldn't prevent an overlay of £20,000. That juicy bonus attracted some of British poker's biggest names including Jake Cody, JP Kelly and Matt Perrins but by the close of play it was our own Jeff Kimber who was the man to beat.

Bluff's regular strategy columnist will head into today's day two action with a tournament leading stack of 157,975. Only 53 of the 126 starters survived day 1B including recent EPT Barcelona Main Event winner Tom Middleton who was the only other player to crack the 100,000 barrier. Multiple UK tournament winner Julian Thew bagged up 79,025 with the aforementioned triple crown winner Jake Cody returning with 63,300.

A total of 72 players from the two opening flights will return to the tables at noon today.

The overall chip leaders are as follows:

Jeff Kimber 157975
John Eames 140075
Danny Blair 113450
Tom Middleton 108550
Matt Davenport 99750
Masud Prodhan 91900
Darren Delahunty 91800
Paul Spillane 86725
Mark Lane 85300
Lawrence Gosney 85000
Julian Thew 79025
