Kevin Vandersmissen wins 2012 paddypower.com Irish Open

The 2012 paddypowerpoker.com Irish Open has concluded with Belgium's Kevin Vandersmissen defeating a field of 502 players and a short final table to take home the top prize of €420,000. This surpasses his previous biggest score as runner-up at EPT Snowfest in 2011.

Ian Simpson, who busted the final in fourth place, was the paddypowerpoker.com Sole Survivor and picked up €100,000 in addition to his €23,000 prize. The final hand, between Vandersmissen and Thomas Beer, saw Beer move in on a nine-high flop with AK. Vandersmissen called with 9-7 and held up to take the title.


The full final table payouts were as follows:
1.      Kevin Vandersmissen - €420,000
2.      Thomas Beer - €225,000
3.      David Dean - €158,000
4.      Ian Simpson - €107,500 (plus €100,000 Sole Survivor bonus)
5.      Steve Watts - €78,000
6.      Jordan Lewis - €59,000
7.      Samuel Chartier - €44,500
8.      Andy Black - €32,700
9.      Philip Magennis - €23,000
