Keith Cummings Riding High

With numerous UK players riding high in the current World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) charts, Ireland's Keith Cummings almost joined the club after finishing second in the series' $1,050 buy-in no-limit Super Tuesday event.

Lining up alongside 1,722 others for the special WCOOP edition of the Super Tuesday event from PokerStars using his 'bullyboy1978' online moniker, Cummings pushed his way past a slew of famous faces before eventually finding himself heads-up against Brazil's William Arruda.

After agreeing a deal that locked up $240,000, Cummings then embarked on a back-and-forth battle that would last more than two hours. Pushing the pace at every opportunity, the Irishman drew a lot of support from the rail but ultimately fell short after committing his stack with Th 8s on an 8s 7d 2 board.

With the chips in the middle and Arruda quick to make the call with pocket queens, it was left to the poker gods to decide a winner. Unfortunately for Cummings, that winner was Arruda as the Js and Jc on the turn and river gave the Brazilian an unbeatable hand and the coveted WCOOP title.

Despite missing out on the title, Cummings' performance was yet another highlight for UK and Irish poker. Indeed, by finishing second, Cummings helped to take the two nation's combined WCOOP 2015 winnings to more than $1.5 million.
