Katchalov Headlines EPT Deauville Final Table

Saturday, 1 February 2014

The final table at EPT Deauville has been set with Ukraine's Eugene Katchalov the biggest name amongst the last eight.

The WSOP and WPT winner consolidated his position at the head of the chip counts yesterday and will return today in second place.

The man to beat is Sotirios Koutoupas though. The Greek started the penultimate day with the chip lead and extended it massively by the close. He has almost double the stack of Katchalov.

British hopes were high on day 5 with five of the 16 survivors hailing from these shores. Those hopes remain buoyant with Chun Ho 'Harry' Law, Eli Heath and Oliver Heath nestled in third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Rounding out the final table are Frenchman Anthony Lerust, Russia's Rustem Muratov and Italian qualifier Carlo De Benedittis.

The final six are guaranteed a pay day of at least €128,200 with the eventual winner pocketing €614,000.
