GTECH Corporation has been selected to negotiate a ten-year contract with the Kansas Lottery, in a deal which will provide the state lottery access to GTECH’s Keno and poker monitors. Primarily, GTECH will supply the online lottery system, wireless IP-communications network, ongoing services and lottery terminals for the Kansas state lottery from July 1st 2008.
While GTECH have provided the lottery for Kansas in the past, the contract was not a foregone conclusion, and bidding was highly competitive. GTECH has undertaken to upgrade the Lottery’s existing system with its Enterprise Series (TM) solution and install roughly 2,000 Altura (R) terminals.
The deal also included GTECH’s point of sale signage system; Enterprise Series Multimedia, Express point Plus terminals and Keno and poker monitors. In addition to this, maintenance of the central system, terminals and Keno and poker monitors will be GTECH’s responsibility and they will upgrade to wireless IP functionality. GTECH will also maintain its data back-up and management locations and run ‘soft’ services such as retailer training and customer support.
W. Bruce Turner, chief operating officer of GTECH and its parent company Lottomatica S.p.A, said he was, “Pleased to continue our longstanding partnership with the Kansas Lottery,” and was “ready to take the Lottery into the next decade with the latest technologies.”
