It could be something of a surprise to many that a $100,000 buy-in event, post-Black Friday, attracted a field of 29 players – enough to put four tables in play. Well, it helps when you have it in the same building as Bobby’s Room and literally across the street from the majority of the high stakes community.

Of those 29, there are 17 in contention heading into Day 2 of the event with notable eliminations including Daniel “jungleman12” Cates, Phils Galfond and Laak, Tom Marchese and Tony G. Not a good day for Lithuanian-Australians or Internet players, then. On the other hand, Ashton Griffin; Erik Seidel (obviously); Daniel NegreanuGabe Kaplan; Yevgeniy Timoshenko; ; Erick Lindgren and Justin Bonomo survived, the latter pair having taken their 400,000 starting stack up to 1.837m and 1.607m for first and third in the chip counts.

For the UK, Sam Trickett is once again our hope for a tournament victory. He’s hovering just below the average stack of 682,500 with his not-too-shabby 626,000; this puts him in sixth place out of the 17 remaining players.

The tournament pays out five places with the fifth place finisher taking home $224,160 and the winner walking away with just over a million dollars. Our money’s on Erik Seidel – winrate’s infinite, running a mile a minute, etc.
